Who wants to take January’s Polar Plunge at the pool? It’s all relative due to Florida’s mild winter seasons, but plenty of people do, then warm up at a hot chocolate bar afterwards, while kids enjoy a piñata contest.

Celebrate National Pie Day in March with — you guessed it — many tasty varieties. It’s a beneficial kid meet-and-greet, too, with older kids signing up to be neighborhood babysitters and families potentially able to find sitting help.

If you’re considering a new home at the most centrally located master-planned community in metropolitan Jacksonville, then you’re likely aware of Tamaya’s impressive amenities.

Hit the sidewalks for miles and hours of walking, running or biking. Wave at neighbors while you’re at it. Tamaya’s streets also provide another workout track; just be aware of traffic.

Want to venture outside of Tamaya’s gated surroundings? Those sidewalks extend to Beach and Kernan Boulevards. Or, jump on your bicycle and pedal east to Patton Park, a Jacksonville city park off Hodges Boulevard. Patton Park is a quick ride away and offers a playground, 12 soccer fields, a football field and picnic facilities.

Own kayaks, canoes or both? Head for Castaway Island Preserve on San Pablo Road, a few miles east of Hodges Boulevard. Its 235 acres offer scenic hiking trials, aquatic trails for canoeists and kayakers (the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway is a short paddle away), a floating dock and picnic facilities.

Spotlight on Our Residents!

With over 160 sales, Tamaya’s residents surprisingly have a lot in common… with the vast majority coming from just a 5 mile radius of the community. The family situations, however, are quite diverse; 50% having younger or older children still at home, 25% retired or close to it, and 25% are younger professionals without children at the time of purchase. Our residents come from all walks of life! Managers, sales professionals, bankers, medical professionals, attorneys, business owners, clergy, educators, and military personnel… just to name a few. And of course, we have a lively group of active retirees who bring their life-long experiences with them. A nice mix of folks who are weaving the tapestry of Tamaya, with lots of great “future neighbors and friends” possibilities for all!

Tamaya’s Grand Entrance Is Taking Shape.

Westside landscaping is just about finished and really makes a statement! Eastside landscaping which will include an elaborate water feature is coming along but WOW, who knew we had to dig water works the size of two swimming pools to make it all work? When complete, it’s really going to be something. Roadside landscaping along Tamaya Boulevard is also nearing completion. The guard house got a final punch-out this week and is looking good. The large lake located just south of the access gate has been reshaped and will be sodded all the way around in coming days. Especially designed to offer an idyllic view to our residents as they return home each day, this scenic vista is accented by a white-washed gazebo, sitting on a small rise across the water. Nice. The new entrance will be fully operational in late fall, timing to coincide with the closing of the Beach Blvd entrance and the grand opening of the Residents Club.

The Residents Club Is Looking Mighty Fine Indeed.

The drywall process will begin next week and the interior spaces will begin to really take shape. Rough-hewn Tuscan tile will soon be adorning the club’s roof, giving an elegant look to its massive façade. The state-of-the-art fitness equipment is on order and the pool pavilion is making steady progress. And good news: the process of recruiting Tamaya’s lifestyle coordinator is now well underway with plans to hire and install just the right person by late summer. Grand opening is still on target for late fall and what an opening it will be! Stay tuned for exact date, which will be announced later this summer.

June was a very busy month racking up more sales than in any of the twelve preceding months. Tamaya has unveiled plans for its $11 million Residents Club during a special event for Tamaya residents and guests.

“Our Residents Club will be one of the defining elements of Tamaya, and we are excited to share our plans with the community,” said David Haas, chief development officer at ICI Homes of Tamaya. “The Residents Club will be the physical and recreational centerpiece of this community and provide special surroundings for the residents of Tamaya.”

The plans were designed by the architectural firm Ervin Lovett Miller (ELM), and interior design services will be handled by Ansana Interior Design of Orlando. ELM and Ansana have teamed together previously on the design of the Residents Club at Amelia National Golf and Country Club, an ICI Homes community.

The Residents Club plans have been designed as a welcoming hub for entertainment and gatherings as well as a place for fitness, wellness and relaxation for homeowners at Tamaya. The 10,000-square-foot Residents Club will include social get-together places to enhance the community living experience including a spacious great room with catering kitchen, a clubroom, a covered porch and an outdoor patio. Designed to reflect Tamaya’s Mediterranean influences, the Residents Club will exude a comfortable elegance with contemporary Italian Renaissance style. It will feature a neutral color palette with striking blue accents, clean lines, wood flooring and luxurious features and finishes.

The Residents Club will feature a resort-style pool and outdoor recreation areas including tennis and an event lawn. The plans call for nearly 4,500 square feet of fitness space inside of the clubhouse including an expansive cardio room and a separate yoga and pilates studio overlooking a garden and fountain area. Site work is underway and construction of the Residents Club is scheduled to begin in the summer with completion anticipated in 2016.

Site work is also underway on a new grand entrance to Tamaya fronting Beach Boulevard and entry roads leading to a two-story gatehouse that visitors will pass through to enter the neighborhoods.
