Keen on a master-planned community in Jacksonville that’s both family-friendly and filled with wide-open resident amenities?
What’s still a big draw for new residents, particularly families? Tamaya’s amenities. They’re anchored by a 10,000-square-foot Residents Club and a resort-style swimming pool with a two-level slide. Inside is a fitness center, plus meeting and social spaces. An event lawn, playground and tennis and basketball courts are outside.
Tamaya is close to many activities around Jacksonville that are perfect for kids’ days out.
Read on for more fun things to do with kids near Tamaya.
The beach
Tamaya is less than 15 minutes and seven miles west of Jacksonville Beach, one of the metro area’s favorite beach destinations. Exit Tamaya’s gated entrance at Beach Boulevard and head east until you reach A1A, Florida’s Atlantic coast highway.
Turn left (north) or right (south) and look for beach access signs and parking lots. Oceanfront Park is a popular option as is the historic Jacksonville Pier (fees apply here).
Remember to pack water, snacks, sunscreen and chairs. Kids will enjoy swimming, surfing and tossing Frisbees and footballs, but remember to keep an eye on them near the surf. The Jacksonville Beach Ocean Rescue Division patrols year-round and staffs lifeguard towers during busy seasons.
Adventure Landing
This sizable mini-amusement park (and then some) is among multiple locations around the United States run by the company of the same name, which is headquartered in Jacksonville. Find it at 1944 Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville Beach, a quick and easy drive from Tamaya.
Per Adventure Landing’s website, the Jacksonville Beach location is northeast Florida’s largest family entertainment center. All ages, from little ones to teens, and adults can get in on the fun with a water park, batting cages, an arcade, roller coaster, two 18-hole mini-golf courses, multi-level laser tag, a go-kart track and multiple snack bars.
Adventure Landing also hosts birthday parties and other group events. Look for special admission prices throughout the year.
Bowl them over
One of Jacksonville’s oldest bowling alleys is located in (you guessed it) Jacksonville Beach, the newly reimagined Beach Bowl.
Located at 818 Beach Boulevard, Beach Bowl has been racking pins and loaning oh-so-cool bowling shoes since 1959. A recent renovation project has made its 24 lanes a more memorable experience along with event space, an arcade, and an open-air, second-level patio for lounging.
Bonus tip
Tamaya families can take advantage of Kids Free November at many Jacksonville-area attractions and recreational activities.
The entire month is full of free or great deals on admission and costs at many locations. Each year’s details usually drop in early autumn on Visit Jacksonville’s website. Set your reminders now!
